UNN graduates 15,904 students


The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) will at its 44th
convocation, which started yesterday, graduate 15,904
students.
This was disclosed yesterday by the Vice Chancellor, Prof.
Benjamin Ozumba at a pre-convocation press conference held
at the Enugu campus of the university.
He disclosed that out of the number of graduating students,
those who did post-graduate and diploma studies constituted
1,676, made up of 331 Ph.Ds; 1,168 and 177 post-graduate
diplomas with first Degree programme accounting for 14,015
students and diploma 213 students.
Prof. Ozumba recalled that he had enunciated his five-year
development plan including staff welfare, students’ welfare,
environment and campus aesthetics, academic leadership and
research and academic discipline, pointing out that steady
progress had been made on all fronts.
The vice chancellor also disclosed that four eminent Nigerians
had been selected for award and conferment of honorary
degrees, including Professors P. N. Okeke of the National
Centre for Basic Space Science and Paul Iwe Akubue.
