The national Leadership of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, shifted the
party’s National Convention, slated for
December 6, to December 10 and 11, just as it
extended the submission of expression of
interest and nomination forms by President
Goodluck Jonathan for the 2015 presidential
election by one week.
The PDP also moved its governorship primary
election to December 8 while that of the
Senate will now hold on December 7, even as
submission of expression of interest and
nomination forms for governorship aspirants
was extended by one week.
With the new time-table released by the party,
the president will now submit his forms by
November 15 as against yesterday, while
governorship aspirants will now submit their
forms November 14.
In the 2014 guidelines released after the 66th
National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting,
the PDP had fixed the governorship primary
election for November 29 while the Senate
primary election would have taken place
November 22.
Roman Catholic Priest, Rev Fr Francis
Agantem Eworo of the Ogoja Diocese in Cross
Rivers state, has signified interest in running
for governor of the state in the 2015 general
election.
At a media parley held recently, Rev. Fr Eworo
told newsmen that he intends to contest on
the platform of PDP and if elected as
Governor, would focus on youth development
among others
Father Eworo who says he has been involved
in the politics of the PDP since 1999, was
ordained a priest in 1977 and has served in
various parishes of the Catholic Church in
Ogoja, Ikom, Uruan, Calabar, and Akwa Ibom
State. Is it OK for a Catholic priest to want to
run for election?
According to an eyewitness who spoke with
The Nation , Boko Haram men today attacked
the PDP Secretariat in Gombe where they
opened fire and killed many people. This was
after carrying out an attack on the Nafada
Divisional Police headquarters in Nafada LGA
earlier.
"In Nafada, they went straight to the
police station and opened fire. From
there, they went to the PDP Secretariat
and the local government secretariat
and opened fire on each of the places."

The eyewitness said 10 persons including one
Sheik Adamu Misira was killed during the
attack.
In a related development, there are reports
that the sect men have hoisted their flag in
Mubi town in Adamawa state, which they
captured recently and have changed it's
name from Mubi to “Madinatul Islam”
meaning the city of Islam.
"They mounted check points and
surveillance at strategic locations,
brandishing riffles but asking us not to
panic or run away,” A resident of Mubi,
Aliyu Bala told Premium Times.
