I’ll return Aba’s lost glory –Mascot Uzor Kalu, PPA Repscandidate

Progressives Peoples Alliance (PPA) House of Representatives
candidate for Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency
in next month’s general elections, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu has
promised to put up quality representation that would bring
back the glory of Aba if elected.
Mascot Kalu made the promise at the palace of the traditional
ruler of Eziama, Aba, HRM (Eze) Isaac Ikonne.
He said as a young man, who was born and grew up in Aba,
he knew the problems of the city and promised to use his
legislative powers to attract projects that would bring back
the city’s lost glory.
If elected, Kalu said he would have a synergy with the Federal
Housing Authority (FHA) for the building of between 500 to
1,000 units of low cost houses in Aba.
Kalu, the younger brother of former governor of Abia State, Dr.
Orji Uzor Kalu said the aim of the project was to afford civil
servants in the city the opportunity of having their own houses
while in active service or after their retirement.
“If the people elect me as their representative, the first thing I
will do would be to have a synergy with Federal Housing
Authority (FHA), they will come to Aba to build between 500
to 1,000 units of Low Cost Housing and this we believe would
afford civil servants the opportunity to own houses.”
Kalu further promised to pay the school fees of 140
undergraduates from the area for the next four years if he was
elected. This is even as he gave his words that he was going
to provide job for 1,000 youths in the area.
Some traditional rulers of Aba North and Aba South, who
came to receive the former CoS at Eze Ikonne’s palace,
eulogised him for his achievements in life despite his youthful
age, particularly when he was Chief of Staff to the governor
and prayed God to see him through in his new endeavour.
The monarch said he had no doubt that Mascot would follow
the footsteps of his elder brother, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, whom he
described as the best governor after late Dr. Sam Mbakwe to
have given Aba a facelift.
Highlight of the event was the conferment of chieftaincy title
of Agu n’eche Mba on Chief Kalu by Eze Ikonne, assisted by
some other traditional rulers.
