Baraje blasts Fayose over attack on Buhari, urges IG, SSS toinvestigate

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) and member of
the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organization, Alhaji Abubakar
Baraje, has chided the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, over
his comments on the health status of General Muhammadu
Buhari.
Baraje, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ilorin,
Kwara State capital, drew the attention of the Inspector
General of Police, the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC), the State Security Services (SSS) and
other security agents to the inflammatory statements
originating from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its
candidates, particularly Governor Fayose.
He urged the security chiefs to do something urgently about
the provocative comments emanating from Governor Fayose,
noting that such comments could ignite crisis in the country.
Baraje described the statement credited to Fayose as “not
only reckless, uncalled for, but also a statement that can
cause anarchy and crisis in the country.”
The APC chieftain expressed surprise that “the statement by
Governor Fayose is coming just few days after presidential
candidates of PDP and APC signed a non-violence campaign
accord to ensure peaceful elections across the country.
“There is a limit to the tolerance of well-meaning Nigerians to
such inflammatory statements such as that of Governor
Fayose. This shows the extent of the desperation of the ruling
Peoples Democratic Party.
“Such statement, apart from having the tendency to cause
anarchy and acrimony, the PDP seems to be preparing the
grounds for violence few days to the general elections,” he
said.
Baraje cautioned Fayose “not to dare God by asking Nigerians
to chose between life and death which made him to refer to
General Buhari, the APC presidential candidate as a dead man
due to his age.”
He, however, urged Nigerians to be patient and not to take
laws into their hands, saying the PDP was already jittery
about the impending outcome of the forthcoming elections.
