Ahead Niger 2015: 40 Golden Eaglets undergo MRI scan

About 40 players of the national U17 team, the Golden
Eaglets, are currently undergoing the Magnetic Resonance
Imaging (MRI) scan to determine their eligibility for the
forthcoming Africa U17 Championship billed for Niger next
month.
The result of the MRI scan is expected to be forwarded to the
Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) by the end of this
month for the registration of Nigeria’s provisional squad for
the tournament.
Since the 2009 African U17 Championship, players have been
subjected to an MRI scan to verify whether they are within the
age limit for the competition.
Niger 2015 will begin on February 15 in Niamey.
Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets won silver at the last edition of the
Africa U17 Championship in Morocco two years ago but went
ahead to win the FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab
Emirates (UAE) later in the year.
The Nigerian team currently tutored by former Barcelona of
Spain and Super Eagles’ left winger, Football Emmanuel
Amuneke is drawn alongside host, Niger, Zambia and Guinea
in Group A for next month’s Africa U17 Championship in
Niger.
The four semi-finalists at the tournament will represent Africa
at this year’s FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile between October
17 and November 8.
