August 26 AGM: State FA chairmen threaten fresh court action

Nff_logo1Some state FA chairmen have resolved to head to the court to prosecute those who allegedly forged their signature during the August 26 NFF Annual General Assembly at Chida hotel, Abuja.

It is recalled that the AGM, was eventually boycotted by most of the 36 FA chairmen who were protesting the arrest of former president Aminu Maigari moments before the meeting which was actually not supposed to be an elective congress started.
Interestingly, despite not being at the Chida hotel venue when the AGM was turned into an election ground , the chairmen were allegedly listed as those who voted with their signatures on the attendance list.
A bitter state FA chairman who didn’t want his name in print told Daily Sunsports yesterday that himself and his colleagues were taken aback when they saw their forged signatures.
“We are going to take legal action against those who perpetrated the fraud. This is not a case of taking football matters to court, but a case of fraud. Some people sat down, forged our signatures and forwarded same to FIFA claiming that we voted for them in an election which we were not part of. The NFF congress of August 26 was not supposed to be an elective one and election was not on the agenda. How some people conjured one remains a mystery and to say that we voted was a clear case of forgery which we will challenge in court,” the FA chairman stated.
When reminded last night that the sports minister has charged aggrieved stakeholders not to take football matters to court, the FA chairman stated that the case they are taking to court is that of forgery and not that of football.
“What we are taking to court is a criminal case of forgery. It is different from taking a pure football matter to court. What we are saying is that we did not vote in any election on August 26 and some people are saying we did with our forged signatures as proof. That to us is unacceptable and whoever did that has a case to answer in court,” he insisted...post by expdonaloaded
